I rise earlier than anyone else in our house. During that golden, quiet hour, I make lunches, sweep, finish washing dishes from the night before, have a quiet time, and try to sneak in some time for my hobbies. On this particular morning, I managed to find some time to work on this nearly-complete baby cardigan. I started this one for our little one, but he’s a bit of a chunk and outgrew it before I finished it. Instead, my sister’s baby will be the first to get to wear this one.

After everyone woke up, we ate breakfast around the table, and read today’s entry in Devotions for Preschoolers. We are enjoying the daily ritual of sharing truth with our boy at the very beginning of his day.

After breakfast, I found a few more minutes to finish weaving in the ends on this cardigan, and I gave it a soak to start the blocking process.DD3I also called my sister to discuss thread colors for sewing on the buttons. Can you tell I was excited to be finishing this project?DD4

Next, my Saturday morning ritual: a trip to the grocery store. I absolutely refuse to grocery shop more than once a week, so a meal plan is critical. When I decided to do a January Whole30, I meal planned for the entire month, so making grocery lists has been easy for these past few weeks. As you can see from this picture, our family of 3 eats lots of produce!

Our sweet little man was tired and ready to be tucked in for his nap after our grocery store trip, so Robert and I made the most of nap time and finally finished putting away Christmas decorations.

DD5

We had previously packed away everything except for a few ornaments, the tree lights, and our outdoor lights.

The tree left quite a mess, so I swept and vacuumed the house. I have to be quite sneaky with the vacuum cleaner these days- it terrorizes our toddler. (Has anyone else had this issue? How did you help your child overcome this fear? HELP!)

Naptime was not quite over yet, so I got to lay the baby cardigan out to dry. I can’t wait to see how it looks with simple wooden buttons!

DD6Lastly, I spent some time reviewing the goals page that I made in the back of my plannDD7er.

I am using my tab punch to help me find specific notes pages like this one, and it is making my simple, inexpensive planner work beautifully.

I am also a visual learner, so representing my goals infographic style has helped me remember them.

After nap time ended, Robert offered to entertain our boy for a little while so I could continue whittling down my to-do list, so I planted seeds for our garden. I look forward to watching them grow in this sunny window. I started Zinnias, Petunias, Sweet William, and three kinds of tomatoes.

Saturday night supper was a recipe I have been looking forward to trying, but it was actually a bit of a disappointment. It wasn’t bad, but I expect better from one of my favorite cookbooks. (I talked about this a little more in my Little Letters post.)

DD9

DD10I ended the day by reading about Samson and Delilah. Somehow, this tale is always more sordid than I remember. How far we can stray from even the best of beginnings! (This book by Liz Curtis Higgs makes the story so real, too!)

I hope you enjoyed reading about a pretty typical Saturday around here! If you’re a blogger, participate in the Daily Dime next month! I love reading about a typical day in someone’s life!

    1. Thank you! I’m excited to see it in use! I’ll post pictures again when it has all of the buttons sewn on. The brightly colored thread really pops!

I drew the goal pages on the blank “notes” pages at the back of my planner, then I added a tab to make them easy to find. I was inspired by all of the super talented bullet journalers out there.
